    Smart Sharpening

    This technique does two "smart" things to avoid sharpening noise: sharpens only the luminosity data in the image, thus avoiding shifts to the hue and saturation components (which affect color), and targets only the edges in the image, avoiding large smooth areas that may contain noise.

    In this tutorial I'll show you how to sepia tone a color or black and white image. This technique is modeled on the traditional darkroom method of sepia toning in that the sepia color is applied "unevenly" to areas of different tonality. It works much better than most of the simple methods I've seen for image editors and provides great control!

    Reducing CCD Noise

    This tutorial examines six different methods of turning a color image into a B/W image. The methods used are the "standard" grayscale conversion, the desaturate operation, decomposing to RGB, HSV, and LAB, and using the Channel Mixer filter.
